Starter Plans Weebly Pricing – What You Get from Weebly Business, Weebly Pro
Starter Plans Last updated on January 6, 2015 By Internet Business Services and Solutions in Weebly Related | Comments 92 Try Weebly for Free You may wonder about Weebly pricing structures and what you get if you subscribe to their paid plans Weebly Business, Weebly Pro and Weebly Starter Plans . In this post, I’ll break them down in details so it’s easier to understand. Weebly is known as a very user friendly website builder and they work really hard to keep things simple and uncomplicated read our Weebly review report here .  They keep this in mind in everything they do, from the tools they give you to build websites, right down to their pricing structures. What You Get with Weebly Business, Weebly Pro and Weebly Starter Plans As at the time of this post, Weebly has 3 paid services: Weebly Business Weebly Pro Weebly Starter Weebly Business offers you all of Weebly Pro features more below , advance eCommerce tools to allow you to build a good online store, and unlimited membership creation function. Weebly Pro offers you all the upgraded tools which enable you to build a much better website. Weebly Starter offers you a subset of tools that are available to Weebly Pro .  Under this plan, you won’t get Business or Pro features such as: Advance eCommerce tools you get some basic features, but not advanced features – see our Weebly eCommerce review Membership creation Unlimited page creation you can only create up to 10 pages with Starter Plan Site search Header slideshow HD video and audio players Password protection for your webpages Advanced controls over Editor permissions Lower file size upload limit To understand more about what these features are all about, I’ve written an in depth report about Weebly Pro features and how you can get Weebly Pro risk free , as well as Weebly eCommerce Features review if you want to build an online store [ UPDATE since August 2013, as part of upgrading to Weebly Business, Weebly Pro or Starter Plans, you can connect your own custom domain name to your website.  Prior to this, you were able to do this under Weebly’s free plan.  Going forward, you will need to upgrade to have your own custom domain name for the website. ] Weebly Pricing – What It Means For You At the time of this post, upgrading a website to Weebly Business, Weebly Pro or Starter plans is relatively affordable and good value – I’ll explain later . Weebly offers you discounts if you sign up to their 1 year plan, and even a greater discount under the 2 year plan. The 2 year plan gives you the best value and if you think about it, your monthly investment is: $3.29 per month for the Weebly Starter plan is about 11 cents per day $6.63 per month for the Weebly Pro plan is about 22 cents per day $19.54 per month for the Weebly Business plan is about 65 cents per day allows you to run a full featured online store – just one sale a day will be more than enough to cover this investment.  See our review under the “ Pricing Comparison ” section to compare Weebly Business against other e Commerce builders Connie my wife spends more than that in a fancy cup of coffee sometimes though she’s getting better… but suffering from sugar withdrawals! From that perspective and from the perspective of everyday living costs a cup of coffee, a bottle of soda, a chocolate bar , upgrading to Weebly Starter or Weebly Pro or Weebly Business is not too enormous of a financial commitment. What you get in return is a much more sophisticated website builder. So if you are serious enough about your website and that you’re committed to it, investing either 11 cents Weebly Starter or 22 cents Weebly Pro or 65 cents Weebly Business a day is almost a no brainer. Is Upgrading to Weebly Business, Pro or Starter Plans Worth It? Weebly offers tremendous value from my perspective. I understand that the majority of the people nowadays expect a lot of things on the internet for free, but if we take a step back, the idea of “you get what you pay for” is a timeless guidance to consumers. As a Weebly customer, in addition to getting better tools to create a better website, they will most likely take a big part of the monthly fees to improve their website builder, build more cool features and tools, provide even better customer support, and help me build better websites. For online store owners, although the Business plan requires a higher investment, remember you will be able to build an actual business out of the advanced Weebly eCommerce  tools .  Considering how much you will need to invest if you wanted a physical store / business?  65 cents a day is a worthwhile investment. I’m happy to pay for good stuff, but that’s just a general guiding principle for me. Self Reflection on Why We Build Websites We’re all different and we live under different circumstances. If you have 20 websites that needs to be upgraded to Weebly Business, Pro or Starter, then the financial commitment to upgrading will have a larger impact on you, than on others Weebly users. But in a really weird way, this might encourage you to sit back and think about whether you really should be focusing on 20 websites, and if all those websites are really worth it.  If you are running a business or an online shop, you might brainstorm how you can make it more profitable. These are good reflections you should consider on a regular basis, even if Weebly didn’t offer premium paid plans. Now that you know what Weebly’s paid plans are, it’s just a bit of a nudge to push you to begin to reflect upon why you are building websites, and what you are really trying to get out of them. WEEBLY PRICING – CONCLUSION Even the free service from Weebly already provides tremendous value to you if you wanted to build a basic website. But if you are serious about committing to your website, your business, online store, or your blog, all things considered, the investment to upgrading your Weebly account is just a drop in a bucket. With the upgraded features especially Weebly Pro , you can really add a lot of cool features to your website to make it stand out.  My favorites include header slideshow, site search and customizable footers. Starter Plans Dave December 19, 2014 at 7:00 AM # I have a web site with IPage and have weebly Basic for Pro they expect me to pay ÂŁ158 a year can i purchase straight from weebly and use it on my web site how would this work if it could Reply Internet Business Services and Solutions December 19, 2014 at 9:15 PM # Hi Dave, You have an option to use Weebly through iPage or use Weebly through Weebly.com directly. The pricing for Weebly.com is outlined in our discussion above. One advantage of using Weebly.com directly is that you get all the most up to date web building tools. With iPage or any other hosting services that offer Weebly , their version of Weebly is usually a couple of versions behind. So for instance, I don’t think iPage’s version of Weebly has the latest ecommerce tools or membership tools. They’ll eventually catch up, but definitely lagging behind in platform updates. Another advantage is that you get support directly from Weebly’s support team, versus support from iPage’s team. That’s good and bad. Support from Weebly’s team is preferable if you have any questions directly relating to the website builder. But if you have other questions outside of the website builder, then I think the support team from iPage will be a bit more helpful. So there are pros and cons to think about for sure! Jeremy Reply Agung December 17, 2014 at 10:13 PM # hi,jeremy , hi all it’s nice to use weebly, i’ve use weebly since 2010. i tried other web using builder online, but once again, weebly is the best so far. and it’s new e commerce features, it’s perfect. with thumbnail, and you can set your product to be featured products. you must try weebly. i’m wondering if weebly will provide ‘build in forums’ ^_^ Reply Internet Business Services and Solutions December 18, 2014 at 8:35 PM # Hi Agung, Weebly doesn’t have a very good forum building tool yet, but let’s hope they’re going to offer this in the near future! They’ve been working hard in introducing some good and updated tools over the past while, including ecommerce and membership. So we’re excited to see what else is next! Jeremy Reply Dave Riley December 11, 2014 at 4:27 AM # I understand that Weebly editor pro is all I need…. What about web space and charges there??? I have different web sites now but understand that I need Weebly X 3, one for each URL… What is charge for editor there and web space? Say two domains?? TNX Reply Internet Business Services and Solutions December 11, 2014 at 5:59 PM # Hey Dave, I’m not too sure if I fully understand what your question is but I’ll take a shot at answering it anyway. With Weebly, there is no space limits so you can upload as much data you want into a website without paying more. For upgrading, you need to upgrade each website / URL at a time. So if you want Weebly Pro for all 3 of your websites, you need to subscribe to a Weebly Pro plan for each of your website address. There are no further charges aside from paying for the plan, for using their Editor. But of course you will have to pay for domain names on an annual basis, and if you use their shopping cart there is a 3% transaction fee but if you are using the Business plan, that fee is waived . Hope this helps! Jeremy Reply Jess L November 17, 2014 at 7:25 AM # I love the weebly site building tools, however I must add that as the Pro package, I got charged 45 dollars this month. After spending a pretty penny just to build the darn thing. I was completely uninformed that this would be the Monthly price tag… So I would just be careful using this site. I’m unhappy about this, and am considering stopping using weebly completely. If it’s my folly I understand, but from what you said above and from the website it seems like that would NOT be the monthly charge. Reply Internet Business Services and Solutions November 17, 2014 at 6:48 PM # Hi Jess, Yes Weebly does offer you a number of different plans as per their website and also our discussions throughout this website . For their paid plans, those are recurring charges so users can continue to use their paid tools on an ongoing basis, as highlighted in our discussions above and also through out all our other discussions regarding Weebly. Jeremy Reply Kyle December 4, 2014 at 7:36 PM # Jess, I am considering a paid plan on Weebly, but your review has me confused. Why did you get charged so much more than you were expecting? Just that you paid for the full year up front? Or do you expect to be paying that every month?? Reply Internet Business Services and Solutions December 5, 2014 at 6:42 PM # Hey Kyle, I can’t speak for Jess, but the way the payment plan works is that it starts with a 6 month minimum, then 1 year and 2 years. The longer you commit, the cheaper it is on a per month basis. But the thing is that you have to pay a lump sum up front to realize the discount / savings – which is fair enough. So for instance, if one wants to sign up to the Pro plan for 1 year, he/she will have to pay $99 up front, which breaks down to $8.25 per month. Hope this helps! Jeremy Reply Dora November 8, 2014 at 12:16 PM # Hello Jeremy I am having a problem with the website builder whom i unfortunately choose.. The problem is that their Paypal shopping cart product list photos don’t matter what size i make them they are horrible, after almost a month complaining i been told that it is a problem on their end and the programmer have to make “lots of code” until unfortunately there is nothing else they can do… I paid them to design my website including the shopping cart and now i am waiting more then a month and nothing happen. My question – and please excuse my ignorance – i don’t know if i transfer the site to other website builder like the wix. the shopping cart remain the same as is now, or it will be on a different mode? Again sorry it sound like stupid but my patient is running thin since august i still don’t have a working site.. Thank you for reading and i would appreciate your input.. if you need i will give you my site with the pathetic product photos. Regards Dora Reply Internet Business Services and Solutions November 8, 2014 at 10:54 PM # Hi Dora, Sorry to hear about your experiences with the other service provider. Regarding Wix, the best way to find out if you are satisfied with their ecommerce tools is to give them a try. I suppose I can highlight some of their features, but you’d have to test them out yourself before making a decision whether to use them which is a big decision to make! To fully test their ecommerce tools, you’d have to sign up to their eCommerce Plans – but you get a 14 day no questions asked refund period, so that pretty much removes the risks from your testing process. Jeremy Reply katie October 30, 2014 at 7:26 AM # Just wondered if Weebly might ever consider a hosting option specifically for non profits. Not that you can get much cheaper for hte service but there may be some functionality that would be specific to the needs of the non profit business. Reply Internet Business Services and Solutions October 30, 2014 at 5:03 PM # Hey Katie, I’m not really sure if they will have something for non profits, but I know they do have programs for schools, large enterprise businesses and designers. Perhaps its worth raising it directly with their support team? Jeremy Reply David October 29, 2014 at 8:14 PM # I have a domain from another webhosting server. I already know I could transfer my current domain to Weebly on a plan. My business is a dealer ship with about 20 cars
wanted a template that will fit my business. is there any specific template that will accommodate it
is it possible to link it to carfax reports? Also, what plan would you recommended for it. thank you Reply Internet Business Services and Solutions October 30, 2014 at 5:01 PM # Hi David, Which plans you choose depends on if you are going to be using Weebly’s ecommerce tools extensively or not. If you are, then perhaps the Business Plan will make more sense. Regarding templates, it’s really up to you to decide on which one fits the branding you want your site to convey. The good thing with weebly is that it allows you to change between templates easily, while not losing any content. So start off with one template and see if you like it. Later if you change your mind, you can always change to another site with just a few clicks! You can always create a text, image or button and hyperlink to Carfax’s website quite easily with Weebly! Just insert your text / image / button, and highlight it and a hyperlinking tool will show up and just insert Carfax’s website address. – Jeremy Reply Wilbert October 22, 2014 at 8:11 PM # Hi, I am currently running a website hosted on iPage which uses the Weebly drag and drop builder. I can see that on Weebly’s platform, the builder is more advanced and has features not available on iPage. If I wanted to transfer my website so that it can be hosted on Weebly’s platform, could that be done? Would I lose something from the original site e.g., domain name ? Can you refer me to what steps I must take in order to do this? And finally…what would the fees be? Thanks, W. Reply Internet Business Services and Solutions October 24, 2014 at 2:22 PM # Hi Wilbert, Yes, Weebly.com has the most updated features and tools, and also if you need support you get access to the Weebly team directly instead of iPage’s team. Currently there isn’t an easy way to migrate a site from a Weebly site built in iPage, to Weebly.com. You will have to do that manually and copy the content from one site to another, basically rebuilding your entire site again in Weebly.com Regarding domain names, you can always just point your domain name to the new site built in Weebly.com. Here are some tutorials directly from Weebly . – Jeremy Reply Maureen October 15, 2014 at 12:48 PM # My company wants to publish Weebly web pages on a domain we already have. We have an SSL certificate on that domain, so do we still need the Business version of Weebly to have that security? Reply Internet Business Services and Solutions October 15, 2014 at 3:04 PM # Hi Maureen, I don’t think a website that’s built with Weebly can connect with a domain name with a SSL certificate. Though I can’t say I”m 100% sure about that so you might want to inquire with their support team directly to confirm this. For the Weebly Business plan, the SSL certificate is only provided when your customer is on your check out page insertion of personal and credit card information . – Jeremy Reply Kenon Winters September 29, 2014 at 4:03 PM # Hello there. Does Weebly provide email as well? I didn’t see that in the bullet points for features. Reply Internet Business Services and Solutions September 30, 2014 at 11:08 AM # Hi Kenon, Unfortunately Weebly doesn’t yet. However, they’ve partnered with Google Apps and you can see how you can use it to connect with your Weebly website . We use Google Apps email ourselves and don’t mind the small monthly fees, as it’s reliable and the Gmail interface is pretty easy to use at least for us! – Jeremy Reply Cassandra September 15, 2014 at 6:29 PM # We are a private summertime swim club and were wondering if there are any swim club themes or lookalikes. We need to do yearly membership renewals and swim team registrations. So, renewals, registrations, babysitter pass, guest pass, tennis key are considered purchases. Does the business pricing plan not charge a transaction fee? I am amazed if it doesn’t…just the monthly business pricing plan covers all that??? Most swim clubs charge the added 3% PayPal charge. Reply Internet Business Services and Solutions September 16, 2014 at 10:58 AM # Hi Cassandra, The Weebly transaction fee shouldn’t be confused with the payment processor fee – it can be a bit confusing so let me try to clarify this! The Weebly fee is a fee to pay Weebly directly to power your online store. The payment processor fee such as the PayPal fee you referenced is to pay the payment processor to process your money transactions. So both are fees, but for different purposes. So if you have a Business Plan with Weebly, while they do waive the Weebly transaction fee, you still have to pay the payment processor fee. As for memberships sites, Weebly currently is in Beta testing phase for their own membership features. But I’m not sure when they will be releasing the full functioning version for paid membership programs. At the mean time, Sentry Login does have membership widget / plugin that does work with Weebly. – Jeremy Reply Terry September 13, 2014 at 4:47 PM # Do you pay for Weebly monthly or do you have to pay the $99 for Pro upfront? Reply Internet Business Services and Solutions September 14, 2014 at 10:51 AM # Hi Terry, If you pick the Weebly Pro 1 year plan, that’s $99 per year effectively $8.25 per month , you will have to pay the full amount $99 up front. Paying up front is the main reason why merchants provide bulk discount. Keep in mind that you have a 30 day money back guarantee period, so if you change your mind you can get your money back. – Jeremy Reply Brenna September 2, 2014 at 10:22 AM # Yesterday I upgraded to the pro version! I thought that when you upgrade you get to set up your own domain– can I do that or do I have to buy a domain and then connect it to the blog Reply Internet Business Services and Solutions September 2, 2014 at 10:47 AM # Hi Brenna, Yes you can purchase your own custom domain name from a domain name registrar such as GoDaddy . Then you can follow these instructions here to connect your custom domain name to your Weeby site. – Jeremy Reply aayman August 29, 2014 at 5:46 AM # I wanted to know that if I upgrade to starter plan for 6 months and then connect my domain that i own for 12 months. then after 6 months will my domain get unconnected ?? thanks in advance jeremy Reply Internet Business Services and Solutions August 29, 2014 at 2:13 PM # Hi Aayman, Once you stop the paid plans with Weebly, you will automatically be enrolled into the free plan, in which you won’t be able to connect your own custom domain to the website. So yes, your domain will be unconnected. Hope this clarifies things for you! – Jeremy Reply Jackie Ayr October 11, 2014 at 3:33 AM # We actually can use domains with a free Weebly account. Either that or my account has been having this privilege for several years, by mistake. jackieayr.com Reply Internet Business Services and Solutions October 12, 2014 at 1:05 PM # Hey Jackie, Weebly used to allow people to use their own domain name a couple of years ago, even with their free plan. This option is no longer available and all new Weebly sites will have to upgrade to their Starter Plan to do this. But all older Weebly sites still have access to connecting their domain name for free, which is a fair treatment for users who signed up prior to the plan change! – Jeremy Reply Eric August 27, 2014 at 5:50 AM # Thanks for the useful article heres a questions I can’t seem to find an answer to. Maybe you can help! Are the per/year costs at weebly buying a domain name and upgrading the website automatically charged again at the end of the year? Or do I have to manually re subscribe to them. I would actually pefer to do it manually because I dont like automatic charges to my account. On a similar note: how easy is it, if say I am unhappy with the services at the end of the year, to terminate my domain name and downgrade back to a free subscription? Thanks in advance, Eric Reply Internet Business Services and Solutions August 27, 2014 at 1:43 PM # Hi Eric, Yes I believe you can set the plans to auto charge or manual charge. It’s up to you. Just don’t forget to renew it! If you forget to renew your plan, you won’t lose your website. Instead all the tools available to you while you were upgraded won’t be available to you. As for downgrades – yes you can do that any time and still retain your website. You just won’t have access to any of the tools that come with the upgrade any more. Hope this helps! – Jeremy Reply Carin Rhodes August 20, 2014 at 12:49 PM # Hi, I am a teacher at the Reed Union School District, and we have used Weebly Pro the past year. We now need to renew our accounts. Can you please direct me with some assistance on what I need to do or who I need to contact in order to do this for our district? Thanks! We love Weebly! Carin Reply Internet Business Services and Solutions August 20, 2014 at 1:58 PM # Hi Carin, I would assume that your account will be auto billed on the credit card that you used? You can log into your account to check if this is the case. Alternatively you can always reach out to Weebly’s support team and they will be able to better direct you as to whom to speak with. – Jeremy Reply Winda August 15, 2014 at 3:48 PM # Hi, Weebly, in its website, said that Weebly could even be used in your own host. Maybe like when I sign up and install Weebly inside my Hostgator Cpanel. Will the pricing be still the $25/month for business plan or it’ll be lower for using my own host eg, Hostgator? Would Weebly even owns our website just like Blogger, com. Thanks. Winda Reply Internet Business Services and Solutions August 16, 2014 at 10:51 AM # Hi Winda, If you use Weebly within Hostgator, the pricing under Hostgator and the features that they offer you will be a bit different from what you get from Weebly.com . I’d encourage you to log into your Weebly platform within Hostgator, and check out their pricing and the features they have to offer, then compare that against Weebly.com basically what we discussed in this article . Some differences include the version of Weebly within Hostgator may limit the number of pages you can create, or that you can’t access the codes of the template to make modifications or import external templates, unless you upgrade to their higher paid plan. Whereas with Weebly.com, you get to build unlimited pages and can edit the website’s codes even with their free plan. So there is quite a bit of difference in what they both offer you. You can also check out our discussion here about Weebly offered through Bluehost , which will give you some sort of idea about some of the differences to watch out for. As for website ownership, you own your own content. And Weebly allows you to export your website and take your content with you if you ever decide to leave. – Jeremy Reply Lucy August 13, 2014 at 7:20 AM # Hello, I am designing a website for a small company and upgraded to the business plan $29/month. I already published the website and paid to host the domain. At the end of the month, will my site be taken down? Is the $39 to host the domain a per month payment and if I don’t pay $29 next month will my site no longer exist? Reply Internet Business Services and Solutions August 13, 2014 at 1:45 PM # Hi Lucy, If you are paying the monthly plan for the Weebly Business Plan $29/month , and suddenly you stop paying, your website will not disappear. It will just be downgraded to the “Free” plan and you won’t have access to some of the advanced tools that you had when you were paying for the Business Plan. You might want to sign up for the 1 year plan to save money if you are planning on running an ecommerce site or even 2 years to save even more . Keep in mind that Weebly has a 30 day money back guarantee. Plus, before you upgrade to any paid plans, you can always test their free plan to see if Weebly is the right website builder for you! – Jeremy Reply Brent August 7, 2014 at 6:22 PM # The one question I have is in regards to upgrading. If I pay for pro is that only for that one site? Do I need to pay that Pro price for every site I wish to build? Reply Internet Business Services and Solutions August 7, 2014 at 7:51 PM # Hi Brent – the upgrade is on a per website basis. So if you want 2 websites to have access to Weebly Pro’s features, that’s 2 separate upgrades. Hope this clarifies things! – Jeremy Reply marian August 6, 2014 at 12:43 PM # what is the difference between a Registered Domain, and upgrade your plan in your site. I am doing a private training/workshop business so for me doing a 6 month plan is better because, it takes more than 6 months to get business its probably not going to fly. Thanks for your assistance. Reply Internet Business Services and Solutions August 6, 2014 at 2:10 PM # Generally speaking, you need to have a domain name so that your website has an address so people can type that into a browser to find your site . To get your own domain, you have to register for one, and pay an annual fee so that you can keep using the domain name. The cost for a domain name is generally from $10 – $14 per year. You can find a lot of them available for you to register at GoDaddy . As for upgrading your site I’m assuming you are speaking in context of the paid plans offered by Weebly , you just get access to more tools from Weebly as per our discussion above. So upgrading to a Weebly premium plan, and registering for your own domain name are 2 independent events, but both are important for you to build your own website. Hope this helps! – Jeremy Reply Zoe August 5, 2014 at 3:45 AM # Hi Jeremy, Thanks for your review and the pricing structure for Weebly. After reading this article I went ahead and built a website on Weebly to release my book and it has come together nicely. However, I’ve now come to the point of adding the store to sell the book I have written and self published….I’m in the UK and so Paypal is the only option for customers to pay for the product. I have just been advised by Weebly as I tried to set up the ecommerce part of the website that to use the option of Paypal I will need to upgrade to the Business plan – the most expensive one. This is unfortunate as I currently have only one product book to sell and it is low priced, and so this is likely to price me out. Weebly chat did say there is the option of adding Paypal button to my website so I will look into this. I just thought I’d mention that it is worth noting that users reading outside of North America will need to upgrade to the Business plan to use Paypal for Weebly ecommerce. I do hope this is something Weebly developers can look at to make the Weebly pricing level Worldwide. That would be great. Best wishes. Reply Internet Business Services and Solutions August 5, 2014 at 12:17 PM # Hi Zoe, Thanks for sharing this. Is your product an ebook that is delivered digitally? If so, then yes you will need to upgrade to the Business plan in order to sell digital products. One alternative is to use Ecwid , or even e Junkie . Both will work with Weebly and allow you to sell digital products at a lower price point than upgrading to Weebly’s Business Plan. Both will integrate with PayPal and may other transaction processors . Of course, the drawback is that you won’t get the nicely integrated ecommerce features that Weebly offers, but you do get a bit more flexibility as Ecwid specifically has a lot of ecommerce features that Weebly don’t offer yet . Hope this helps! – Jeremy Reply Gethin July 21, 2014 at 7:18 AM # Not exactly clear or I missed it someware? if you buy a Weebly Starter/Pro do you get a domain, or do you have to buy that seperate again? Reply Internet Business Services and Solutions July 21, 2014 at 2:07 PM # Hi Gethin, For Weebly, you will have to purchase your own domain name such as from GoDaddy . But if you subscribe to premium plans with a few other website builders such as Squarespace or Wix , they do give you a free domain name. You can check out our comparison chart here which will show you which website builder includes a free domain name for each subscriber. – Jeremy Reply Nancy Solomon July 19, 2014 at 10:03 AM # I’m a freelance marketing communications and PR writer, editor, yadda yadda. I built my website in iWeb years ago. When Apple stopped supporting iWeb and the links to my video samples stopped working — different reason — I paid someone to recreate my site in WordPress – It hasn’t been a good experience. I built a free website in Weebly for some legislation I’m working on through bluehost, my service. It was easy but limited. But now I’m considering Weebly Pro OR Rage Software EverWeb, which I think is $79 once. I must say that your reviews of Weebly are wonderfully helpful and I’m almost ready to commit. However, if you have any information or opinion about EverWeb, I’d appreciate hearing from you. ALSO, I can build my site in Weebly Pro through bluehost rather than Weebly. Any thoughts? Reply Internet Business Services and Solutions July 19, 2014 at 11:50 AM # Hey Nancy, Sorry to hear about your experience with hiring someone to help you with WordPress. It’s not an uncommon experience, but again, situations vary from case to case of course. I’ve never used EverWeb so don’t have any comments on them, unfortunately. As for using Bluehost’s version of Weebly or using Weebly.com directly, check out our thoughts in this article here . Hope this is helpful! – Jeremy Reply Kelly July 17, 2014 at 12:11 PM # Hi Jeremy – thanks for the helpful review. I took over a partially started Weebly site at my job so I didn’t get much choice in the matter of which web builder, but this is reassuring that my predecessor who started the site made a good choice! And it’s great to know that I can export the site if need be – it’s a species identification website with has over 300 pages and counting, so starting from scratch if it needs to be moved would be terrible. I have a couple of questions for you, though: 1 Are you aware of any page limit? So far that hasn’t been an issue but I’d like to figure out if there is sooner rather than later. 2 Is there a danger, with Weebly or with any other web builder, of loosing a site? It’s not like it’s something I can back up on my own – and since backing up work has become second nature for everything else computer wise it’s a bit nerve wracking to not be able to back up something that I’ve been working on for months! Thanks! Kelly Reply Internet Business Services and Solutions July 17, 2014 at 8:48 PM # Hi Kelly, Thanks for your feedback! Here are my thoughts to your questions: 1 There is no page limit at the moment. 2 I think there is always some degree of risk if you use a hosted solution such as Weebly to host and build your website. But you can always make it a weekly habit or as frequent as you wish to export your site to back it up. Also, I believe that Weebly backs up their customers’ websites on a very frequent basis if not daily . So anything ever happens, I’m sure you can ask them to recover your site. I’ve heard from a few users that have been able to do this through Weebly support. – Jeremy Reply JMC July 8, 2014 at 8:20 AM # Hi Jeremy, I’m amazed at how fast Weebly is. I’ve created 14 very usable pages in less than 2 days on my free account. I use Constant Contact for my newsletters and all of the images on my newsletter are on my hosted domain at http//www. domain name .com/Images. Does my hosted account stay with my current provider? If I apply my domain to a Weebly Pro account will I loose all of the images that are there now? Can I migrate all of those images over to Weebly? How do I FTP images that won’t be used on the webpages up to the Weebly account for use on my newsletter? Will the location remain the same – http//www. domain name .com/Images? Thanks very much. Reply Internet Business Services and Solutions July 8, 2014 at 11:17 AM # Hey JMC, That’s a great question. If you move your domain name, then your images that used that domain name that’s stored elsewhere will no longer be valid. So you will have to move the images to elsewhere. Either you can upload them into Weebly they have on FTP so it can be a bit time consuming if you have a lot of images , or you can just get a new domain name and use that domain name and your hosting account to store the images. Obviously this will cost you a little bit more money, but can be convenient and save you time. One thing you can try which I haven’t before, but curious is to store your images on Dropbox free . I wonder if you can create a URL that goes directly to the image, then insert that link into your constant contact email message? – Jeremy Reply JG May 21, 2014 at 7:25 AM # HI, I have an email with another provider and just purchased Weebly PRO; I want to move that email over to Weebly, how do I do that? Is email included with Weebly PRO? I can’t seem to find that answer… example: info@ abc .com with old provider ; want to move this same email to Weebly to receive emails through the Weebly site. Thank you. Reply Internet Business Services and Solutions May 21, 2014 at 1:02 PM # Hi JG, If you already have an email with your own custom domain up and running, you just have to insert that email into the contact form settings within Weebly Editor and all the messages your visitors leave you through the contact form should be routed to your email address automatically. The only thing you should make sure is that your Weebly website domain name matches your email domain address. They don’t have to be, but it’s just a preferred practice so that when people get your email, it’s consistent with the website address. – Jeremy Reply M C May 13, 2014 at 11:23 AM # Hi, Thank you for your post. It was very informative and I have decided to actually downgrade my Weebly site. But I need your help. WHERE DO I GO TO DO THIS. I am either missing something or it is not there. I cannot find any links on where to do this. Thanks for any help! Reply Internet Business Services and Solutions May 13, 2014 at 11:55 PM # Hey M C, You can just email their support team and ask them to downgrade. I actually haven’t done this myself before either so I’m not exactly sure if there is a way to do this yourself in the Weebly dashboard, without involving their support team. Would be interested to know what you find out! – Jeremy Reply Sandra Czaja April 13, 2014 at 11:49 AM # I have a question. Go Daddy hosts and carries my domain name. Can I use weebly? What will it cost? Thank you. Sandy Reply Jeremy
Connie April 13, 2014 at 12:13 PM # Hi Sandra, Yes you can still use Weebly. What you can do is point your domain name registered at GoDaddy to your Weebly website. Here are some instructions directly from Weebly . – Jeremy Reply JP April 3, 2014 at 1:41 PM # Hi Jeremy! You have the best to the point review. I especially appreciate your comparative chart. I’ve been a Weebly user since 2006 – started as a free user then upgraded to Pro after about 6 months. I’ve been recommending and designing websites for small business owners using Weebly ever since. Quick question; now that Weebly has three price points, can one go from the Free account to the paid Starter account and then later upgrade to Pro if they discover they really need more of the premium features? I have someone who is undecided between the Starter and Pro upgrade they’re not sure if they’ll need/want the addition features Pro has vs Starter . Can they still upgrade from Starter to Pro if they need to? Reply Jeremy
Connie April 3, 2014 at 4:51 PM # Hey JP, Thanks! Glad you found our discussions helpful! Yes – you can upgrade / downgrade any time you want. So you can test out the Starter Plan first, then upgrade to Pro / Business any time. Or you can go the other way, and downgrade if you figure you no longer need certain tools. – Jeremy Reply JP April 4, 2014 at 1:26 PM # Good to know. Thanks for the clarification! Reply SooMuchStuff April 1, 2014 at 7:28 AM # Hi Jeremy. You helped me the other day. Now I’d like to mention a few things about Weebly. Weebly is, entirely user friendly. For those who are extremely savvy, techy types. Using Weebly is by far the best introduction to building a website, effortlessly. One feels they are quite the ‘geek’ as they’ve made it so enjoyable to use. The Support staff are quick responders. Very friendly and most accommodating. I found a small restriction in the program which I wrote to you about. Unfortunately, due to the type of website I wish to build and its capabilities, I have to move my site. That said, I do hope in time they address this area. I’d return in a heartbeat! Nevertheless, not everyone needs what I do. I didn’t know enough about building before I set out. Found along the way what I’d ultimately, require. Still, I highly, highly !! recommend Weebly, to any new to web building individual. Even for those more tech savvy, I’m certain it would cut your building time down to nearly zero. It is, that good. Thank you again for your response the other day, Jeremy. You’re very eager to help. The tone comes though even in text. Though it didn’t pan out for me, I was delighted with every aspect of Weebly. Best wishes to new builders. I know you’ll love Weebly! Cheers. Reply Jeremy
Connie April 1, 2014 at 5:58 PM # Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts! And you’re very welcome – glad we can be helpful! Weebly is a very comprehensive website builder. Simple, minimalistic, yet powerful. When Connie and I first started out, Weebly was almost a dream come true for us. Back then, we didn’t know how to write one line of code if our lives depended on it. But even as we learned codes, we still think Weebly is such a great platform with a lot of flexibility. – Jeremy Reply Andrew March 31, 2014 at 7:05 AM # As at the time of this post, Weebly has 2 paid services: 1.Weebly Business 2.Weebly Pro 3.Weebly Starter you actually show three. Reply Jeremy
Connie March 31, 2014 at 8:01 PM # Hey Andrew, Oops! Sorry for that and great catch! I’ve updated it now. Thanks for taking the time to let us know! – Jeremy Reply Susan March 17, 2014 at 10:06 AM # How is your experience with Weebly hosting? Have you experienced any down time? Any honest feedback is highly appreciated. Thanks! Reply Jeremy
Connie March 17, 2014 at 7:25 PM # Hi Susan, There has been times when the servers go down for a very short while and this happens to every single hosting service – no such thing as 100% uptime! In our observations, we’ve seen Weebly go down a few times very very rare though and they are back up and running very shortly after. If others reading this have experiences with this, feel free to add to this discussion as well! – Jeremy Reply AlexCJ March 12, 2014 at 2:34 PM # Hi, firstly, thanks for the excellent reviews. It is helping me understand what is possible! I was told by a web designer that Weebly charge extra to make alterations/edits to your website, but nothing I have read so far either on your site or on Weebly suggest that! Please can you confirm that once I’ve built and published my Weebly website, I won’t have extra charges for updating pages etc? I will be using their paid service as I want to use my own domain name. In time I would like to go to WordPress for greater functionality, so would it be easy to transfer from Weebly to WP? Thanks Reply Jeremy
Connie March 12, 2014 at 2:38 PM # Hey Alex, With Weebly, if you sign up to their premium plans, you will only be billed on a monthly or annual basis depending which option you choose . Once you make those payments, you can make as many changes as you wish without having to pay any more. If you want to change your site to WordPress down the road, you will need to build your WP site from scratch, as Weebly currently doesn’t have any migration functions to WP. BUt then again, maybe they will in the future! – Jeremy Reply Damien Wilson May 13, 2014 at 9:07 AM # The fact you can’t migrate your site provides a HUGE problem for anyone serious about their website. It’s true that too much of an architectural change to website code can easily leave your SEM efforts lost in the move. There are ways to reduce a lose in search rankings but for those with little budget it’s not worth thinking about. If you’re a business, go with WordPress and don’t risk a using software that can’t scale – WordPress is inexpensive to begin with and very easy to improve as your business grows. Reply Crystalyn February 11, 2014 at 11:11 AM # Can you pay on a month to month basis with Weebly for the Business plan? Or do they force you to pay up for an entire year before you can continue? Thanks for any insight! Reply Jeremy
Connie February 12, 2014 at 1:38 AM # Hi Crystalyn, You can still pay month to month for sure for $29 per month. If you do decide to purchase their annual plan or 2 year plan, you get a “bulk” purchase discount of 14% and 33%, respectively. Hope this helps! – Jeremy Reply Kevin Martin Jr January 25, 2014 at 9:23 PM # I must say and admit, Jeremy/Connie, this is the best review for weebly plans as well as for the weebly review listed on your other post. What my final question I must ask is…do you strongly feel that weebly is a good long term investment? I plan on hosting and taking control over my affiliate marketing site for many many years to come. Best regards and thanks. Reply Jeremy
Connie January 26, 2014 at 1:46 PM # Hey Kevin, Thanks! I think Weebly is here to stay and is one of the most user friendly website builders available in the market today. They’re backed by some of the same investment fund that funded the likes of Google, YouTube, Dropbox, AirBnb, LinkedIn, Tumblr, Yahoo, etc. So they are well capitalized and are one of the fastest growing website builders today. So I think they are a solid long term investment to host your website. Hope this helps! – Jeremy Reply Rob November 12, 2013 at 7:24 AM # If I have an account and have multiple websites under that account, will upgrading to Pro cover all of those websites or do I have to upgrade to Pro for every website? Thanks! Reply Jeremy
Connie November 12, 2013 at 2:18 PM # Hi Rob, Weebly’s upgrades are on a per website basis. So if you sign up for Pro, you have to sign up on a per website basis, and NOT on a per account basis. – Jeremy Reply Jason January 12, 2014 at 9:43 PM # Hi, What happens if you sign up for pro/business from the start? I remember reading you have up to 10 sites included but wanted to know if that’s the case. Reply Sally Jenkins June 20, 2014 at 9:50 AM # I’m glad I read this far! This is so important that it should be easier to find! That said – my question now is, I currently have 2 free websites; I really don’t need the upgrades on either one. But I am interested in creating a third website through Weebly. Can I keep the two free ones and purchase a Starter website for making the third one? And how would I do that? Reply Internet Business Services and Solutions June 21, 2014 at 5:30 AM # Hey Sally, Yes you can. Just create a new website within your Weebly account Weebly allows you to create up to 10 sites per account , then upgrade your new website while leaving your other 2 existing sites as “free”. With Weebly, you have to upgrade one website at a time. So you can pick and choose which site to upgrade or not. Hope this helps you out! – Jeremy Reply kat November 28, 2013 at 11:13 AM # Well, if i’m not mistaken, part of the weebly pro feature is when you upgrade to pro, all ten sites will have the same pro features. Reply Jeremy
Connie November 28, 2013 at 11:06 PM # Hi Kat, That used to be the case a while back. But Weebly has updated its offering so upgrading to Pro is on a per website basis. But if you upgraded to Pro prior to the Weebly offering update, you would have been grandfathered into the old structure, thereby retaining the “Pro” status for all 10 of your websites. But this isn’t the case any more. – Jeremy Reply Jeremy
Connie January 13, 2014 at 9:15 AM # Hi Rob, As of around mid 2013, for Weebly websites, you have to upgrade them 1 website at a time. So if you have 5 websites, and you want all of them to be Weebly Pro, you need to upgrade EACH website. Hope this answers your question! – Jeremy Reply Jacinda November 11, 2013 at 4:41 PM # Hi, i was thinking about upgrading to weebly business, as we need an unlimited amount of products for a proper online store. I was wondering do they ask you at the end of your plan if you want to continue or not? I also wanted to know, if you don’t continue with the plan does that mean your entire website goes back to the basic weebly settings or does it still stay the same? Thank you Reply Jeremy
Connie November 12, 2013 at 12:39 AM # Hi Jacinda, I think they ask the question to see if you want to renew the plan. So for instance if you are using the Weebly Business Plan, and you choose not to continue, then you will drop back down to the free plan once your Business Plan expires. So you will have to continue to subscribe to their plan if you want to maintain your Business Plan features. One thing to consider if you have a lot of products, is that any plans below Weebly Business Plan only allows a limited number of products. So I’m not entirely sure what will happen if you don’t keep your Business plan. Probably want to clarify this with Weebly just to be sure. let me know what they say as I would be curious as to what happens as well. – Jeremy Reply jimmy July 17, 2013 at 9:05 AM # I have the weebly site builder but my site/domain is registered with fatcow and when I click to upgrade to weebly pro the price is far higher, is there a way round this? Thanks Jimmy. Reply Jeremy
Connie July 18, 2013 at 11:40 AM # Hi Jimmy, I think the Weebly website builder offered through Fatcow is different than using Weebly through Weebly themselves. The version that Fatcow offers is currently an outdated version of Weebly, though it is still a very capable website builder. The prices that we reviewed above in the article is based on Weebly Pro’s package if you use the website builder directly through Weebly see our review here – http://www.websitebuilderexpert.com/weebly review/ . I think this is why Fatcow’s “Pro” package is priced differently from Weebly’s Pro package. – Jeremy Reply Susan May 19, 2013 at 1:09 PM # I think I understand the difference between Pro and Starter. What other charges are there? Do you host websites? What are all the charges for that. I need a full budget to make a proposal to my group. They are unforgiving when it comes to hidden charges, so please help me out. Thanks for you help. Susan Porter Reply Jeremy
Connie May 20, 2013 at 10:28 AM # Hi Susan, Weebly provides free hosting for you so you don’t have to manage hosting yourself which is nice . Hosting is included in all their paid packages, and also their free package. I think some costs you should consider include domain name registration fee, email services if you want to use your domain name as your email , and any other online related services you may need to use. But generally speaking, domain name and email are the two main items people need to run a website this is in addition to signing up for a premium package with Weebly of course . – Jeremy Reply Michael March 24, 2014 at 6:49 AM # So where would one get email for a weebly starter package? Reply Jeremy
Connie March 24, 2014 at 10:14 AM # Hi Michael, I believe that Weebly has a deal with Google Business Apps where you can get a bit of a discount if you use Google’s email services they allow you to get get your own custom email address while also using the Gmail interface . But this is something you have to pay on the side in addition to the Weebly package. An alternative is to use Microsoft’s custom domain service , which is free. – Jeremy Reply About Us Maybe just like you, at first we didn't have a darn clue about how to build a website, nevermind write half a line of code if our life depended on it!
